Tour essentials

Punta Mita Experience’s private snorkeling tour departs from Marina Punta Mita, in Nayarit, Mexico, and lasts 2 hours. After about 15 minutes of sailing, the boat stops in front of Cueva del Guano, a cave in a sea cliff on the Punta de Mita coast that gives the spot its name: you snorkel in the sea in front of it, not inside the cave. The tour runs year-round, Monday to Sunday, with departures every hour from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The boat is reserved for your group only, up to 13 people, with a captain and a local guide. Mask, snorkel, life jacket, water and soft drinks are included; fins are not. There is no minimum age. The species seen most often are parrotfish, sergeant majors, porcupinefish, moray eels and mullets. You can book online up to 6 hours before departure.

What is Cueva del Guano?

It is a cave in a sea cliff on the Punta de Mita coast, 15 minutes by boat from the marina. The cave sits in the rock, above the waterline, and gives the whole site its name: the boat stops in front of it and you snorkel in the sea, alongside the cliff.

You don’t go into the cave. The boat stays in front of the cliff, and from there you get in the water with the guide.
